World Health Organization

Abstract

This progress report documents the activities and contributions of the WHO Civil Society Task Force on Tuberculosis (CSTF-TB) during 2022–2023. Established as a platform for dialogue and collaboration between WHO, civil society organizations and communities affected by tuberculosis (TB), the CSTF-TB supports the implementation of the End TB Strategy through advocacy, policy engagement, community participation and multisectoral action. The report outlines the Task Force’s mandate, membership and key activities undertaken to strengthen the role of civil society in global, regional and national TB responses.

The report highlights CSTF-TB engagement in preparations for the second United Nations High-Level Meeting on TB, contributions to the development of WHO guidance on community and civil society engagement to end tuberculosis, participation in policy and guideline development, and efforts to promote WHO recommendations. It also describes advocacy initiatives aimed at maintaining TB as a global health priority, strengthening accountability, mobilizing resources and advancing equitable, people-centred approaches to prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care. The report emphasizes the value of meaningful community engagement, social participation and partnerships in addressing the determinants of TB and accelerating progress towards ending the epidemic.
