Compendium of data and evidence-related tools for use in tuberculosis planning and programming

World Health Organization

Abstract

This compendium supports National Tuberculosis Programmes (NTPs) in using data and evidence more effectively for policy, planning and programmatic action. It provides a concise overview of key tools for tuberculosis (TB) planning and programming, describing their purpose, application and relevance for decision-making.

The tools are presented within the context of the WHO People-Centred Framework for TB programme planning and prioritization, which guides the use of data across the continuum of care. This second edition updates existing tool profiles, introduces new tools, and expands the scope to include areas such as stigma and social protection. It also references a complementary framework to support the prioritization and sequencing of tool implementation.

The compendium is intended to help NTPs and their partners identify, select and apply appropriate tools based on country context, data needs and implementation feasibility, thereby strengthening evidence-informed decision-making and improving TB programme performance at national and subnational levels.
