Abstract
This web annex accompanies the second edition of the WHO consolidated guidelines on tuberculosis, Module 6: tuberculosis and comorbidities, and presents GRADE summary of findings tables supporting recommendations on tuberculosis and undernutrition. The publication compiles evidence from systematic reviews assessing the effects of nutritional interventions and micronutrient supplementation among people receiving tuberculosis treatment and among household contacts of people with tuberculosis disease. It provides structured evidence summaries for multiple interventions, including energy-protein supplementation, arginine supplementation, counselling and financial support, food vouchers, micronutrients, dietary interventions and other nutritional approaches.
The annex summarizes evidence on outcomes related to tuberculosis treatment completion, cure, sputum conversion, mortality, treatment adherence, nutritional recovery, body composition, weight gain, adverse events and biochemical indicators. For each intervention and outcome, the document presents effect estimates, certainty of evidence assessments and explanatory notes according to the GRADE methodology. The publication is intended to support transparency in guideline development by documenting the evidence base and certainty assessments that informed WHO recommendations on nutritional care and support for people affected by tuberculosis.
