Abstract

Bronchopleural complications are considered to be the most important and most common causes of treatment failure, and in some cases – causes of fatal outcomes of surgical treatment of tuberculosis (TB). Formation of a bronchopleural fistula (BPF) remains the most severe complication of lung resection and, particularly, pneumonectomy. The purpose of this literature review is to highlight modern approaches to treatment of the main bronchus stump during pneumonectomy in patients with advanced destructive pulmonary TB.
