Abstract
Tuberculosis is a prevalent disease that poses a serious threat to human health. Relevant and reliable research can help in improving tuberculosis control globally. Drug development is considered one of the top priorities in tuberculosis research, followed by diagnosis, diagnostic tests, epidemiology, health services studies, basic research and vaccine development. Conventional medicine has been successful in treating the disease and development of a few novel drugs is still underway across the globe. This chapter includes discussions on some commercial natural tuberculosis adjuvants and the main plants contributing to the activity of these natural products. With the availability of a variety of natural products on the market, many patients seek to treat diseases naturally to try and minimize side effects from conventional medicine. While herbal medicine has been successfully used for years, many may unknowingly be increasing the chances of herb-drug interactions that may result in significantly decreased therapeutic activity of conventional medicine.
