Nidan [causative factor] plays an important role in course and onset of any disease. It may become the cause of another disease. This concept is explained by Acharya Charaka under the heading Nidanarthakara roga [a disease itself become causative factor for some other disease].Further he has narrated the example of nidanarthakara roga [a disease itself become causative factor for some other disease] as Pratishyaya [rhinitis] kasa [cough] kshaya [Tuberculosis] shosha [wasting].
