A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW ABOUT THE PATHOGENESIS AND VIRULENCE OF DIFFERENT PATHOGENS
Suvrat Chaturvedi
Abstract
The world of diseases is a vast one with one disease differing from another disease in many ways, from the mode of action to the severity and lethality of the disease etc. For each disease there are mainly two underlying factors that decide the success or the failure of the pathogen causing the disease. These factors, that are discussed in this paper, are ‘Pathogenesis’ and ‘Virulence.’ Though these are the two main factors, with every pathogen the variance within themselves is vast. Not only do these factors allow us to have a better understanding of the disease itself but also gives information that is essential for working on a cure for it. In this paper, the two terms and what exactly is their role in diseases is discussed with relevant examples of four disease including two bacterium caused diseases and two virus cause diseases. These diseases are Anthrax, Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, Covid-19.
