Abstract

This dissertation explores the socio-economic implications of Tuberculosis (TB) among patients and their households in Madhyamgram, focusing on livelihood challenges, socialization perceptions, and societal difficulties. The research design adopts a predominantly quantitative approach to comprehend the multifaceted impact of TB, utilizing key informant interviews and survey data collection methods. Findings reveal significant livelihood problems faced by TB patients, with a disproportionate impact on female patients. Socialization perceptions after disease detection vary, with a higher percentage of female patients experiencing social stigma. The study also identifies societal difficulties faced by patients, highlighting the need for targeted interventions to address socio-economic burdens. Recommendations include implementing income support programs and promoting social inclusion to alleviate the impact of TB on affected individuals and households.
