Abstract
Abstract: - “A study to assess the effectiveness of STP on prevention of tuberculosis among care takers of patients with tuberculosis visited at selected hospital of Kanpur. The objective of the study was to assess the pretest and post - test level of knowledge regarding prevention of tuberculosis in caregivers of tuberculosis patients, to assess the effectiveness of STP on prevention of tuberculosis among the care takers, to find out an association between pretest knowledge regarding prevention of tuberculosis among care takers with their selected demographic variables In order to accomplish the objectives of the study, pre experimental design with quantitative approach used. the sample consists of 30 caretakers from selected hospitals of Kanpur who fulfilled the inclusion criteria for the study. The convenient sampling technique was used for this study. The instrument comprise of was utilized to survey the knowledge level of caregivers of tuberculosis patients regarding prevention of tuberculosis. It comprises of 2 areas. Section I: Demographic variables Section II: Structured knowledge questionnaire to assess the knowledge regarding prevention of tuberculosis. Data collected on October 2024-november 2024 from caretakers who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The collected data was tabulated according to various parameters and the complete analysis was done with descriptive and inferential statistics. Interpretation and conclusion: revealed that In pretest the participant 21 had inadequate knowledge, 9 had moderate knowledge and no one had adequate knowledge and in posttest 23 had moderate knowledge and 7 had good knowledge regarding prevention of tuberculosis. The obtained value was 16.29 and the table value was. since the obtained value was greater than table value null hypothesis rejected, ie, hence hypotheses 1 was accepted, STP was effective to improve knowledge regarding prevention of tuberculosis. The chi-square calculation explains that there was a significant association between pre test knowledge level regarding prevention of tuberculosis among care takers with their selected demographic variables such as previous knowledge regarding prevention of tuberculosis and family history of tuberculosis as the obtained value was greater than the table value at 0.05 level of significance. Hence hypotheses 2 was partially accepted
