Abstract
Female genital tuberculosis continues to be a burden on health care in developing countries. Although tuberculosis of upper genital tract is of common occurrence, the diagnosis may often be delayed or missed in perimenopausal women due to its varied presentation. The clinical picture may sometimes overlap with the ovarian malignancy adding to its diagnostic dilemma. We report a case of 50 year old perimenopausal woman presenting with bilateral adnexal mass and underwent extensive surgery with a suspicion of ovarian cancer. However, the histopathology was suggestive of ovarian tuberculosis and she received antitubercular treatment. Though infrequent in this age group, female genital tuberculosis should always be kept as one of the differentials and should be ruled out.
