Review 1: "The Long-Term Risk of Tuberculosis among Individuals with Xpert Ultra "trace" Screening Results: A Longitudinal Follow-Up Study"

Syed Azizur Rahman

Abstract

Review:This study provides valuable longitudinal evidence on the clinical progression of individuals with Xpert MTB/RIF Ultra "trace-positive" tuberculosis (TB) screening results who were not started on treatment after initial diagnosis.Conducted as a well-designed, two-year prospective cohort study in Uganda, the research involved repeated clinical and microbiological evaluations to assess progression to active TB.It addresses a crucial gap in TB screening/diagnosis and treatment decision-making, particularly in high-burden settings where diagnostic ambiguity can hinder timely care.
