Abstract
This article explores the importance of implementing new skin tests based on specific Mycobacterium tuberculosis antigens (TBST) in diagnosing tuberculosis infection, emphasizing their specificity and applicability, especially among individuals vaccinated with the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG). TBST, which operates similarly to interferon-gamma release assays (IGRA), offers a more accurate alternative to traditional testing methods. The importance of this study lies in its contribution to improving strategies for preventing the progression of TB infection to active tuberculosis, a crucial aspect for reducing the incidence and mortality associated with tuberculosis, thereby supporting the objectives of the End TB strategy.
