Mathematical Model of Tuberculosis with Seasonality

Zhonghua Ling, Luling Duan

Abstract

Tuberculosis is one of the most common diseases in China. We established a mathematical model with periodic transmission rates to study the prevention and control measures for tuberculosis. We explore the conditions under which disease-free equilibria are globally asymptotically stable. We used the model to simulate tuberculosis case data released by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and performed sensitivity analysis on several key parameters of the model. Our research indicates that tuberculosis can be controlled by enhancing awareness of treatment methods, increasing the treatment rate of infected individuals, and raising the vaccination rate of newborns.
