Abstract

Order to assess the significance of preventive treatment for tuberculosis (PTT) in children with tuberculosis infection (TI), a cohort of 260 children aged 1 to 17 years taken for dispensary observation in group VI A due to TI (positive test result with allergen tuberculosis recombinant (ATR)) was analyzed. Study groups: group I - no family contact with a patient with tuberculosis (TB) (n=90), group II - contacts with a patient with TB (n=90), these groups received PTT. Group III included children whose parents refused PTT despite the presence of indications (n=80). Group III was divided into 2 subgroups: group III A - children without contact with a patient with TB, without PTT (n=40), group III B - children in contact with a patient with TB, without PTT (n=40). The evaluation of the PTT results showed a higher percentage of children in group III A who fell ill within 2 years - 5 % and III B - 12.5 %, compared to group I - 1.1 % and group II - 3.3 %, respectively (рI-IIIA = 0.2; χ2 = 1.8, рII-IIIB = 0.04; χ2 = 4.1)
