Abstract

The Front Cover illustrates the methylerythritol phosphate (MEP) pathway as a source of drug targets for novel anti-infectives. The MEP pathway is composed of seven underexploited enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of universal isoprenoid precursors that are essential for important pathogens like Gram-negative bacteria (e.g., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Plasmodium falciparum). Specifically, here the authors focused on the kinase IspE. Cover design by Antoine Lacour. More information can be found in the Research Article by Henni-Karoliina Ropponen, Eleonora Diamanti, Anna K. H. Hirsch et al.
