Abstract

The research dealt with developing a spectroscopic method for estimating the isoniazid drug through copper complexes formation for Schiff bases. The drug was reacted with aldehyde (para chloro benzaldehyde) and the preparation of a Schiff base then reacted it with copper chloride, where it showed the highest absorbance at a wavelength (336nm) and reached the limits of linearity Between (1-10 µg/mL). The correlation coefficient of R (0.9977), and the value of the molar absorption coefficient (1.6087×104) L / mol. cm, while the detection limit (0.1570), Sandell index (0.00852) µg/cm3, ratio % (99.300%), RSD% (0.172%). The method was successfully applied for the determination of isoniazid, and it was found that the results of the method are consistent with the concentration of content in pharmaceutical preparations.
