Clinical Profile and Prevalence of Tuberculosis among HIV Positive Patients seeking Treatment in Tertiary Care Hospital: A Cross Sectional Study

Abstract
Background: TB and HIV infections both are prevalent in India which is important public health concern. Theobjective of the study clinical profile and prevalence of Tuberculosis among HIV positive patients. The present hospital based cross-sectional study was carried out in the ART clinic of Tertiary care Hospital in 324 patients above 15 years ofage .Socio demographic data taken and Clinical examination was done. BMI was calculated. CD 4 count, Sputum forCBNAAT, Sputum for AFB and other relevant investigations was done. Maximum were males in 35 -49 years age groupand common clinical events were Persistent Fever , Recurrent Oral Ulceration, severe weight loss, PulmonaryTuberculosis, Extra Pulmonary Tuberculosis and chronic diarrhea .Majority were in WHO Clinical Stages 3 and 4 due toless CD 4 counts and underweight .About 29.32% had tuberculosis ,mainly extra Pulmonary tuberculosis. Presence of TBcoinfection was highest in economically productive age groups males, Muslim, underweight, less educated and lowsocioeconomic class group.
