Abstract
Introduction: For patients with MDR/XDR TB surgical methods play a significant role in the comprehensive treatment. In this case, it becomes possible to analyze the results of drug susceptibility testing (DST) of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) isolated from the sputum of the patient at the preoperative stage of treatment and from its surgical material. Aim: Analysis of the results of DST of Mtb isolated from surgical and respiratory material of the pulmonary TB patients. Material and Methods: The research of surgical material from 123 pulmonary TB patients was carried out. Drug resistance to rifampicin, isoniazid, fluoroquinolones, aminoglycosides and capreomycin were detected by using microarray test system TB-TEST (BIOCIP-IMB, Russia). The results of DST of Mtb isolated from the sputum of these same patients at the preoperative stage of treatment were analyzed too. Results: DST of Mtb from surgical material was carried out in 117 (95.1%) cases. Mutations no were found in 17.9% (21 of 117) of the samples. 61.5% (72 of 117) of DNA samples were MDR; 12.0% (14 of 117) were XD; 8.6% (10 of 117) of samples were mono- and multiresistat. In a pairwise comparison of the results of DST of Mtb isolated from surgical material and sputum, it was found that the drug resistance spectrum was differ in 46.2% (54 out of 117) cases. Conclusion: Resected samples of lungs are informative material, allowing to obtain information about Mtb located in the tuberculosis focus, which is clinically important information.
