Abstract

Background Tuberculosis infection of meninges or tuberculous meningitis is an important serious form of Mycobacerium tuberculosis infection. This nervous system infection can lead to complex clinical problem. The genetic epidemiology of tuberculous meningitis is an interesting data.Materials and methods Here, the authors collected and summarized on the molecular genetic epidemiological data of tuberculous meningitis isolates from Thailand, a tropical country in Indochina. Results On the basis of available data on isolates, the Beijing strain is the main isolate strain with estimated incidence range of between 55.99 and 66.55%.Conclusion The molecular epidemiology summary shows that the main strain involving tuberculous meningitis in Thailand is Beijing strain.
