Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease with a high prevalence in Nigeria. Its effect on the population has been modeled by adapting an agent-based model (ABM) designed for the study of TB in Ciutat Vella (Barcelona). After fitting the parameters, virtual experiments were performed increasing the notification rate, with the aim of exploring how a better education about TB of the population would improve the current situation. The results show that, in fact, ABM are useful tools to model reality, and the experiments suggest that by increasing the notification rate from current 16% to 25-30%, the prevalence decreases until eradication.
