Abstract

The WHO's End TB Strategy and the United Nations' (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) share the common aim to end the global TB epidemic. Specific targets have been set in the End TB Strategy, for the period 2016-2035, which include a 90% reduction in TB deaths and an 80% reduction in TB incidence (new cases per year) by 2030, in comparison with 2015. Globally, though the TB incidence and mortality is falling at the rate of about 2% and 3% per year, by 2020, these figures need to improve to 4-5% per year and 10%, respectively, so that incidence can fall faster to reach the first (2020) milestones of the End TB Strategy 3 . Newer treatment trends have emerged to achieve these targets in children.
